The New Jersey Department of Transportation would like to take this opportunity to notify you of the upcoming NIGHT work related to the Route 46 Eastbound Resurfacing Project in the Township of Little Falls, Woodland Park Borough and Clifton City, Passaic County.
The project limits cover about 1.62 miles of Route 46 eastbound, from MP 58.97 which is just west of Lower Notch Road, Little Falls Township to MP 60.59, which is in the vicinity of Rock Hill Road, City of Clifton.
The project limits are mostly located in Passaic County however overnight ramp closure detour routes will extend into the Township of Montclair, Essex County.
This project will include Curb-to-Curb Milling and Resurfacing of Route 46 eastbound and Bridge Deck Repairs from Lower Notch Road Bridge to Rock Hill Road. All storm water inlets within the project limits will be upgraded to be in compliance with the current New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) mandates. There will be selective tree trimming and removal within the highway’s right of way to improve site distance along the Lower Notch Road entrance ramp.
The entrance ramp to Route 46 eastbound from Lower Notch Road WILL BE CLOSED for approximately four to five weeks until this bridge deck and joint repairs are completed and will re-open the first week of October 2013.
To minimize traffic impacts, all existing travel lanes on Route 46 eastbound will be maintained during peak hours. However to complete the resurfacing efforts, the Construction Contractor will be permitted to close the following lanes and roadway in the eastbound direction:

Furthermore when the contractor is resurfacing the highway entrance and exit ramps, they will be permitted to temporarily close the affected ramp overnight, from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM (next day). Detours will be in place during these temporary ramp closures.
Much of this work being done at night will be noisy and all work is WEATHER PERMITTING. The proposed start date for this work is on or about August 23, 2013 with a substantial completion date of October 29, 2013.
