The Township’s Emergency Management Team is preparing for what could be a significant weather event.
The storm is anticipated to produce rain in our area starting late Sunday – early Monday morning (between 2 and 4 am). Heavy rain is expected late Monday morning through late Tuesday. Rain amounts could be anywhere between 3 to 10 inches. Winds in our area during Monday afternoon through Wednesday may reach 30 to 50 miles per hour. Based on this forecast by the National Weather Service it would be likely that we will experience downed power lines, power outrages, and street closings. The Township is also expecting stream and flash flooding.
Sand bags will be available after 9 am Saturday and will be available at the end of Hopson Avenue and at the tennis courts on Paterson Avenue. Volunteers to assist with sandbagging are welcome.
The Little Falls Flood Emergency Hotline will be in place during this event. That number is 973-256-6538 and will operate 24 hours a day during a storm event. The hotline will provide information about resident relocation, updated flood status, and any other critical information.
The Township’s reverse 9-1-1 system will be in place and used as needed in the event of evacuations or other urgent messages.
